Police Investigating Meriden Man's Untimely Death

A Meriden man died Thursday afternoon, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A 37-year-old man was found dead Thursday afternoon, according to police. Officers responded to the call for an untimely death at a second-floor apartment at 763 Hanover Road.

There were no signs of foul play or any type of altercation. The medical examiners' office will be conducting an autopsy and the cause of death is not currently known, though a number of hazardous materials were found at the scene.

"During the course of the investigation, the scene developed into a Hazmat situation based on the presence of certain chemicals and substances located inside of the apartment," according to police. "At this time it is not known why the deceased male had these chemicals in his apartment."

Additional agencies, including the FBI, DEA, DEEP, and DPH, were called in to assist local agencies.

Police said the amounts of those materials in the apartment were negligible and that there is no danger to the public as a result of the incident.
