Popular Restaurant Closes After Nearly 40 Years In Meriden
The longtime community staple recently closed its doors for good.
MERIDEN, CT — Alan’s Cup n’ Saucer Restaurant in Meriden has closed its doors after nearly 40 years in business, according to the Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports owner Alan Giacco has retired after 38 years of service to the community, and the popular breakfast and brunch spot officially closed on April 30.
Giacco told the Record-Journal that he was “very fortunate” to find the right buyers for the space at 443 Colony Street, and that if everything goes right, they’ll keep it as a small restaurant.

As the restaurant was approaching its 35th anniversary in August 2019, Giacco put the building on the market.
“After almost 35 years in business, Alan is ready to hand the reins over to someone who is excited and passionate about owning and operating a long-standing Meriden staple,” according to a post on the restaurant’s Facebook page at the time.
