'Possible Explosive Device' Found In Meriden: Police [UPDATE]

The state police bomb squad was called in and has safely detonated the device, according to a report.

MERIDEN, CT — A possible explosive device was found on Hanover Street in the area of Randolph Avenue on Friday morning, according to police.

The Connecticut Police Bomb Squad was activated. The bomb squad safely detonated the device, according to WTNH News-8.

A passerby noticed the device on the sidewalk and reported it to police. Police did not disclose what the device was, WTNH News-8 reported.

Police had asked residents and drivers to stay clear of the area Friday morning.
