Recent Truck Crash on I-91 - What to Do if You Are Injured
Information for Meriden residents on what to do if they are involved in any accidents involving a truck.

A few days ago around 5:30 AM a cargo truck had it’s drive shaft break and punctured the tank where it was carrying oil. Around 500 gallons of waste was spilled onto the highway between exits 17 and 18. An environmental contractor was brought in to clean up the spill and hopefully there will be no further environmental damage. Fortunately no one was injured in the incident, but it is important to be reminded what to do if one is injured in a trucking accident.
If you are injured in a trucking accident it is important to protect yourself physically and financially. Truck accidents can be very serious and with so many traveling on the I-91 all Meriden residents should know what to do if they are ever the victim of one.
The first thing to do if you are still physically able is to call the police as soon as possible. This is so you can have emergency respondents on the scene and also so they can make a report of what happened. You will need the report if you plan on making any claims later in the future. Sometimes you will not realize you have injuries right after an accident because of adrenaline or other reasons. It would be a nightmare to have lifelong injuries resulting from a truck accident with no means of compensation.

According to local Meriden personal injury attorneys many parties can be liable when it comes to a trucking accident such as the trucking company itself, the driver, or the insurance of both. That’s why it is important that when the police do arrive on scene to not admit fault, and contact an attorney as fast as possible. If you do admit fault you may not be able to receive compensation for injuries later. Also, it is best if you go to the hospital to get evaluated by a doctor so you can have records for later claims.
