Returning To School In Meriden Expected To Cost $2.3 Million

School officials are discussing what the district will need to offer to return to school in the fall.

MERIDEN, CT — Bringing students back to school in the fall is expected to cost $2.3 million, according to The Record-Journal. The city's plan calls for 10 additional teachers to minimize class sizes, three more school buses, and 32,000 masks for students.

The plan also incorporates social distancing along with disinfecting and sanitizing. School officials plan on filing an application for funding under the CARES Act to the Connecticut Department of Education prior to the July 24 deadline, The Record-Journal reported.

The exact amount of funding needed is difficult to gauge, as, for example, it is unknown how many students will opt for distance learning.
