Rosemary DelVecchio obituary: Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, East Haven

Rosemary (Florenzano) DelVecchio, 82 of Wallingford passed away at home on August 11, 2026. She was born January 6, 1944 in New Haven to Antonio and Rose (Amendola) Florenzano. Rosemary is survived by her six devoted children; Cindy Sarcione of Meriden, Ronald DelVecchio (Gina) of New Haven, Mark DelVecchio of Wallingford, Brian DelVecchio (Megin) of North Haven, John DelVecchio of Wallingford and Christopher DelVecchio of North Haven along with thirteen grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. Rosemary is also survived by her brother, Anthony Florenzano of New Haven and numerous nieces/nephews.

Rosemary is preceded in death by her parents, husband, Ronald DelVecchio, two grandchildren, Noelle and Sophia Sarcione and siblings: Frank Florenzano, Salvatore Florenzano, Alphonse Florenzano, Carmel Sagnella and Marie Hardy.

Rosemary was a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose family was the center of her life. As the mother of six, she dedicated herself to making sure her family was always well cared for, from preparing meals and doing laundry to being there whenever one of her children needed her. She carried that same devotion into her role as a grandmother, always making sure her grandchildren had what they needed and, as they grew older, doing whatever she could to help them establish themselves in life.

Rosemary found great joy in cooking, music, shopping, watching soap operas and game shows, but her greatest happiness came from being surrounded by her family. She was especially known for her homemade Italian cooking and her Sunday sauce, always preparing more than enough to make sure everyone at the table had plenty to eat. Family gatherings were special to her, and she cherished every opportunity to have her loved ones together.

Known for her sweet, kind, and caring nature, Rosemary was always willing to help others. She had a special nickname for every one of her children and grandchildren, a small but lasting reminder of the unique bond she shared with each of them. Rosemary had a warmth and kindness that touched everyone who knew her, and she was deeply loved by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

She was especially proud of the life she built during her 51 years of marriage to her husband, Ronald, and of the family they created together. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest source of pride and joy. The love she gave so freely to her family and to others will remain with them forever, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

Family will receive friends on Tuesday August 18, 2026 from 4 PM until the time of a brief service at 6:30 PM in the Clancy-Palumbo Funeral Home, 43 Kirkham Ave., East Haven. Burial will be private.
