Seriously-Injured Meriden Pedestrian ID'd

The man is still in critical condition after being hit by a vehicle Monday.

Update: The pedestrian has been identified as James Bennett, 49, of Meriden, according to the Record-Journal. He is still in critical condition.

Original story: A pedestrian sustained life threatening injuries after being hit by a motor vehicle.

The accident happened Monday around 3 p.m. near the intersection of West Main and North First streets, police said.

A man who is about 50-years-old was in the street and had a head injury and trauma to his upper torso. His name won’t be released until his family is notified.

He was transported to Midstate Hospital and then transported via LifeStar to Hartford Hospital.

Police interviewed several witnesses and the investigation continues.
