St. Joseph's in Meriden Wins Award for Sportsmanship
The monetary award is through Liberty Mutual Insurance.

St. Joseph School of Meriden won $2,500 from Liberty Mutual Insurance for promoting good sportsmanship through the Play Positive Pledge program.
The award is one of ten through Liberty Mutual Insurance.
“We are absolutely ecstatic to have earned the $2,500 Play Positive Pledge, and are so proud of our students and their families for their hard work and commitment,” said Marissa Finn of St. Joseph School. “We offer our students the opportunity to participate in sports free of charge, so we have to work very hard each year to raise money to pay for uniforms, equipment and more.”

About 50 percent of coaches and parents surveyed by Liberty Mutual Play Positive said that sportsmanship had been on the decline.
“With sportsmanship on the decline as our recent survey proves, we at Liberty Mutual Insurance know how important the lessons learned on the field at a young age can be to young athletes as they prepare for future success,” said Anthony Storm, executive vice president and chief marketing officer, Liberty Mutual Personal Insurance. “We are proud to applaud St. Joseph School and the Meriden community for their commitment to sportsmanship, integrity and an overall positive experience in youth sports.”
