Supreme Court Justice To Speak At Meriden School
Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will speak at Maloney High School later this month.
MERIDEN, CT — Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor will speak about her new children's book at a Maloney High School event Oct. 18, according to The Hartford Courant. The book is titled "Just Ask!:Be Different, Be Brave Be You," in which children work together to plant a garden.
Sotomayor, who became the first Latina on the Supreme Court in 2009, was diagnosed with juvenile diabetes at 7 years old and said the experience of receiving regular insulin shots made her feel different. However, as she grew older, she said, "I realized that there are many ways to be, that I was not alone in feeling different,” according to The Courant.
The event is sold out.
