Tax Freedom Day. Really?

Taxation can be described interchangeably as either slavery or theft. Most people think it’s neither because politicians say it’s okay.

Slavery can be defined as theft of the fruits of one’s labors. Think of the people who worked on plantations in the antebellum American south. Everything they produced went to the plantation owner. That’s what happened to Connecticut residents from January 1st to May 13th this year. It’s disgusting.

It’s also impossible to deny that taxation is theft. It’s actually theft under threat of violence. Try not paying your taxes for any reason, even if you can’t afford it or have conscientious objections. If you hold out long enough, eventually armed government thugs will appear at your door to arrest you. If you continue to resist and protect your property, they’ll eventually shoot to kill.

I’ve read the Federalist Papers. I can’t find where the founders intended for American citizens to be forced to hand over nearly half of their earnings to the government. It’s happened because citizens have allowed politicians to run their lives. It’s supposed to be the other way around.
