Teen, 16, Charged In Shooting In Meriden: Police

The teen, who was also charged in connection with a stolen vehicle out of Cheshire, was arrested Monday on a warrant.

MERIDEN, CT — A 16-year-old juvenile has been arrested in connection with a shooting in Meriden in May, according to police.

The shooting happened around 10 p.m. on May 25 in the 100 block of Veteran Street, according to police. A shell casing was found at the scene, police said.

On May 28, police said a stolen motor vehicle from Cheshire was found in Meriden and was later determined to be the suspect vehicle in the shooting.

Two juveniles were arrested May 30 near the scene of the recovered stolen motor vehicle, according to police.

Police said those juveniles were arrested on unrelated charges, and one of the juveniles was in possession of the key belonging to the stolen motor vehicle that was recovered on May 28.

Following an investigation by the Major Crimes Division, police said one of the juvenile suspects was believed to have been responsible for the shooting on May 25 on Veteran Street.

The 16-year-old, who police said was being held at Hartford Juvenile Detention on unrelated charges, was arrested Monday on a warrant.

The juvenile was charged with two counts of criminal attempt at first-degree assault and one count each of carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal use of a firearm, larceny of a motor vehicle, payment card theft and illegal use of a payment card.
