Teen Charged With Murder After Person Found Stabbed In Road: Meriden Police

The teen was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff at his home, police said.

MERIDEN, CT — A teen is charged with murder after a person was found stabbed in a Meriden road, according to police.

Josue Ortega-Torres, 19, is being held on a $5 million bond, police said.

Officers responded around 6:30 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Hanover Road, where they found Justin Sloan Sr. suffering from suspected stab wounds, according to police, who said Sloan was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead.

An investigation led authorities to Ortega-Torres, who was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff at his home on Melville Avenue, police said. Negotiation and SWAT teams helped facilitate his surrender, according to police.
