MERIDEN, CT — A teen is charged with murder after a person was found stabbed in a Meriden road, according to police. Josue Ortega-Torres, 19, is being held on a $5 million bond, police said. Officers responded around 6:30 p.m. Saturday to the 800 block of Hanover Road, where they found Justin Sloan Sr. suffering from suspected stab wounds, according to police, who said Sloan was taken to a hospital and pronounced dead. An investigation led authorities to Ortega-Torres, who was taken into custody after an hours-long standoff at his home on Melville Avenue, police said. Negotiation and SWAT teams helped facilitate his surrender, according to police. The investigation is ongoing, police said, and anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Jad Hadir at jhadir@meridenct.gov or 203-630-6250.
