Teen Girl Assaulted In Reported Kidnapping In Meriden: Police
Police are investigating an assault that was originally reported as a possible kidnapping in Meriden on Thursday, according to officials.
MERIDEN, CT — Police are investigating an assault that was originally reported as a possible kidnapping in Meriden on Thursday afternoon, according to officials.
Police received several 911 calls around 3 p.m. regarding an assault and possible kidnapping on Golden Street, according to Lt. Darrin McKay. The callers reported that there were around six people involved and one was possibly armed with a gun.
McKay said patrol officers responded to Golden Street and found an unoccupied vehicle, and then went to the address of the registered owner of the vehicle.

A man told them that he was involved in the fight, according to McKay.
Meriden detectives then assisted in the investigation and police found that there was surveillance video in the area of the assault, according to McKay.

“After watching the video it was learned that there was no kidnapping, however, an assault did occur where a juvenile female was struck in the head,” McKay wrote in a news release. “It did appear that one of the males in the video was possibly in possession of a firearm.
“In an effort to locate and check the welfare of the female, investigative leads were followed and with the assistance of the Waterbury Police Department a vehicle was identified and the juvenile female was eventually located in Southington.”
The juvenile female was found in a car that contained several men and a handgun, according to McKay.
“Everyone inside of the vehicle was not allowed to legally possess a firearm,” McKay wrote. “It was also learned at this point that the initial assault between the juvenile female and the male was the result of an argument over a vehicle. At this time the investigation is ongoing and all parties have been identified.”
