Undercliff Facility in Meriden to Close

The closure will help the state save money.

MERIDEN - The state Department of Developmental Services will close the Undercliff family respite center in Meriden by June 30, officials announced.

The closure is for financial reasons, as the state looks to save money and reallocate funds, reports the Meriden Record-Journal.

A second similar regional facility, the Ella T. Grasso Regional Center in Stratford, also is slated close, according to officials. Residents of the two centers, which combined total about 40, will be relocated to one of three facilities in the state or placed in community homes.
