How apt it is that this is also the first Sunday of Advent, that time leading up to Christmas and the birth of a child, ever a symbol of new hope. What does it mean for those of us who are members and minister of this congregation to intentionally welcome new members? What does it mean for all of us to renew our commitment to being a welcoming congregation—yes, for LGBTIQQA folks among us and for all who are marginalized in the many ways that it happens. Let’s worship from the inside out and wrap the arms of our hearts and minds around all who commit to membership in this community that ever aspire to love, justice, and spiritual growth.
