Wethersfield Police Issue Notice Of Speed Limit Change

The speed limit on Main Street will be reduced by 5 mph.

Information via Wethersfield police

WETHERSFIELD, CT — Please be advised that the speed limit on Main Street between Spring Street and River Road will be reduced by the town from 30 mph to 25 mph.

This change is due to the increased popularity of restaurants and other destinations in Old Wethersfield that have drawn more visitors to the area. This change, in addition to the recent installation of a raised crosswalk located near the Keeney Center, is in efforts to reduce vehicle speeds and improve public safety.

We anticipate that old speed limit signs will be replaced within the upcoming weeks when Physical Services staff is available.

As always, the Wethersfield Police Department encourages all operators to drive safe and obey traffic laws. We appreciate the town of Wethersfield, the Engineering Division, and Physical Services for assisting us in improving public safety and the quality of life of our residents. Our officers will continue to increase enforcement patrols for all traffic violations throughout town.
