Nothing beats a just-picked tomato, still warm from the summer sun. I slice it and eat it plain or with a hint of sea salt My favorite cherry tomato is Sungold. It's a small orange tomato that is super sweet. The downside is that they crack easily, but oh, they are so good. I am not sure what my favorite slicing tomato is. I grew up with Early Girl. I have grown many varieties, including Mr. Stripey, Black Krim, Cherokee Purple, Rose, Brandywine and many, many more. This year my neighbor gave me some of his extra tomato plants. I have no idea what varieties they are, other than a big beefsteak type and some type of Polish variety. They are excellent. What is YOUR favorite tomato variety? Let me know so I can taste test and possibly add it to my list of what to grow for next summer.
