Woman, 47, Charged In Theft Of Vehicle: Meriden Police

The woman was caught driving a vehicle that was stolen out of Newington, according to police.

MERIDEN, CT — A 47-year-old woman was arrested Thursday after police said she was driving a vehicle that was stolen out of Newington.

An officer saw a gray Honda Civic driving on West Main Street without its lights on, and the license plate reader indicated that it was possibly stolen, according to police.

The officer followed the vehicle while dispatch confirmed that the vehicle was stolen, police said. A motor vehicle stop was conducted and the driver pulled into a driveway.

The driver, later identified as Brenda Coleman, was detained, according to police.

Newington police confirmed that the vehicle was stolen out of Newington on Feb. 14.

Coleman was arrested on charges of third-degree larceny, failure to have lights illuminated, and operating while under suspension. She was being held in lieu of a $5,000 bond with a court date of March 3, according to state judicial records.

Police said the 2011 Honda Civic was towed from the scene.
