Woman Allegedly Tried to Bite Security Guard at Meriden Mall

A New Haven woman is facing assault and shoplifting charges after she was allegedly caught stealing and attempted to bite her way out of the situation, according to police.

Darlyn Shepard, 35, allegedly was caught by staff at Best Buy attempting to shoplift, according to the Record-Journal. She was confrontational with security and attempted to bite one guard, police said.

She was charged with second-degree robbery, third-degree assault, second-degree breach of peace, possession of burglary tools and fourth-degree criminal attempt to commit larceny, according to court records.

She was released on a $25,000 bond.
