Women Punched SUV’s Windows In Stop & Shop Parking Lot: Meriden Police
Two women are accused of punching the windows of an SUV with children inside after claiming the driver went through a stop sign, police said
MERIDEN, CT — Two women were arrested after police said they punched the windows of a vehicle with children inside after claiming the driver went through a stop sign in the Stop & Shop parking lot in Meriden on Monday.
Police responded to Stop & Shop at 485 Broad St. on the report of criminal mischief to a Nissan Pathfinder by an “irate female,” officials wrote in a news release.
The victim told police that a woman, later identified as Taylor Reid, and Reid’s wife, Elizabeth Britton, started using vulgarities as they accused her of running a stop sign, according to the news release. They also threatened to assault her, police said.

Reid, 31, and Britton, 32, are accused of banging on the victim’s Pathfinder windows while her 10-year-old and 11-year-old children were in the backseat, according to police. Reid hopped on the vehicle’s hood and smashed the windshield, according to police.
The victim told police that Reid tried to pretend to get hit by the Pathfinder, according to the news release.

“The victim got out of her vehicle and confronted the women because she was in fear for her and her children’s safety,” police wrote in the news release. “She had tried to drive away but Reid was blocking her from doing so.
“The victim was eventually able to leave the lot and take her children to a safe location. She returned to Stop & Shop to meet officers. Officers were familiar with Reid and Britton as they have dealt with them on many occasions and on many occasions both have lied to the police, provoked, and physically disputed with others.”
Police said an anonymous bystander provided video footage of the incident that occurred. Officers saw Reid punching the victim’s windshield with her fists and Britton doing the same to the back windows where the children were seated, according to police.
Police said numerous other bystanders stayed at the scene and corroborated the victim’s account of the incident. Most were upset that there were “children involved,” according to police.
“Reid alleged she had been ‘squished’ between two vehicles in the parking lot and sustained injuries,” police wrote. “Reid stated the victim purposely pulled up next to another vehicle in a manner to injure her. Hunters Ambulance arrived on scene, however, once Reid learned she was being arrested she declined treatment. Reid then began to yell at officers. Reid was yelling so loudly that almost everyone in the Stop & Shop parking lot was watching her.”
Reid was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace. She was released after posting a $5,000 bond with a court date of Oct. 14.
Britton was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree breach of peace. She was released after posting a $5,000 bond with a court date of Oct. 14.
