MIDDLETOWN, CT — It was a good old-fashioned cat rescue Monday morning in Middletown, almost something in a Norman Rockwell drawing.
The protagonist was a young indoor cat who somehow escaped the friendly confines of her home.
A nearby tree looked inviting on the way up, but it was a different story for the descent.
That's when the South Fire District and Middletown Animal Control came to the rescue.
They managed to "coax" the naughty feline into a net on an extended handle and she was scooped to safety.
"As a rule, the Fire Department is not normally able to assist with this type of call. Working together, we combined our equipment and were able to get "Smores" back inside safely," animal control officials said. "We love collaboration. Thank you South Fire for caring about this little girl."
