MIDDLETOWN, CT — The Middletown Police Department is continuing to investigate a shots fired incident that occurred on Tuesday.
The incident took place at 4:43 PM in the area of Westlake Drive.
According toa news release, investigators determined that Christopher Lane, who is known to the victim, discharged a firearm following a dispute involving the occupants of a vehicle.
The target was not struck and was able to flee the area safely, according to a news release.
Officers immediately responded and conducted an extensive search utilizing multiple dog teams, drones, and "regional law enforcement resources." Shelter-in-place advisories were issued as a precaution for portions of the Westlake, East Street, and Atkins Street areas during the search.
Said police Wednesday afternoon:
"Despite extensive efforts throughout the evening, Lane was not located. He is believed to be armed and dangerous.The Middletown Police Department was assisted by the Cromwell Police Department, Connecticut State Police, the FBI New Haven Field Office, Middletown Fire Department, and regional Emergency Response Teams. Anyone with information regarding Christopher Lane’s whereabouts is urged to call 911 immediately or contact the Middletown Police Department at 860-347-6941. Additional updates will be released as they become available."
