Ryan Pulcini, 33, whose address is listed in a warrant as Middletown at the time of the accident but in Deep River on an arrest report dated May 21, posted a $100,000 bond and is due in Middletown Superior Court on June 18, exactly one year from the time of the incident, records show.

The two-car crash took place at 6:27 a.m. on June 18, 2025 and involved Pulcini heading south on Route 153 in a 2023 black Jeep Wagoneer and 64-year-old Robert Jones heading north in a 2015 Nissan Altima, according to a warrant.

Both vehicles sustained heavy front-end damage after the Jeep veered into the path of the Nissan, according to a warrant. Pulcini was taken to Yale New Haven hospital with lower extremity injuries and Jones died after being taken to Middlesex Health Shoreline Hospital, according to a warrant.

Pulcini said he did not remember details of the crash and claimed he may have "blacked out," according to a warrant.

He was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, investigators said in a warrant. His cellphone was damaged beyond being useful to extract information, according to a warrant.

The Jeep was traveling at 50.1 mph and the Nissan at 23.8 mph at the time of the collision, according to a warrant. Somehow, investigators concluded, Pulcini was not paying attention, according to a warrant.
