1. Middletown To Pilot One-Way Traffic Pattern On Court Street (patch.com) — Drivers in Middletown should prepare for a new one-way traffic pattern on Court Street downtown, running east to west from deKoven Drive to Main Street starting Oct. 1. Police are asking motorists to pay close attention to signs and use extra caution as everyone adjusts during this pilot program aimed at improving traffic flow in the city center.

2. Grow at Wesleyan: Intercultural Identity, Intersectionality, and Community at ISO (wesleyanargus.com) — Wesleyan University in Middletown recently welcomed 106 international students for a five-day International Student Orientation focused on intercultural identity and community-building. Workshops covered visas, academics, and new AI policies, while evening activities helped students adjust to life in the U.S. and on campus. Leaders say the program is increasingly vital as federal visa rules tighten.

3. Ahead of prime buying weeks, Connecticut home sellers still aren't budging on price cuts (greenwichtime.com) — Connecticut's housing market remains tight heading into the usual fall discount season, but a few sellers are starting to cut prices, including a Middletown townhouse on Rising Trail Drive reduced by nearly $15,000 after 12 days. Overall, far fewer listings here are discounted compared with the national market, keeping pressure on buyers. Analysts say late-season shoppers may still find isolated deals.

4. Research Targets Troublesome Traffic Light and Other Problems Vexing State (yale.edu) — Student research at Yale has taken a fresh look at the long-stalled effort to remove the notorious Route 9 traffic lights in Middletown, which are blamed for frequent crashes and backups. The project, part of a state government course, found that overly extensive public outreach helped bog down the plan. Their findings join other Connecticut-focused studies now available to policymakers and residents.

5. This CT boys soccer team has a tradition of winning; it's trying to get back to the top (courant.com) — Glastonbury's boys soccer team opened its season with a 3–1 win over Middletown, overcoming the presence of Middletown's standout All-New England scorer Andrew Edward. The article chronicles Glastonbury's bounce-back from a rough 2023 season, but also signals that Middletown is facing tough early competition in a conference stacked with strong programs and ambitious playoff hopes.
