As September comes to a close, we're looking back with gratitude at an incredible show of community support for local children and families.This summer, Y members and staff generously donated backpacks and school supplies to help students begin the new school year prepared and confident. We were proud to share those donations at the Back 2 School Community Day hosted by Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church. This uplifting event brought families, community organizations and neighbors together for an afternoon of resources, activities and connection.The day was made even more meaningful by a generous $10,000 donation of high-quality athletic clothing from Eva Lokaj of High Life LLC. The clothing supported children in our Summer Enrichment Program, teens who spend time at the Y and families attending the Back 2 School Community Day.The incredible participation at the event was a powerful reminder of what can happen when a community comes together around a shared purpose. We are deeply grateful to Cross Street A.M.E. Zion Church for welcoming us as a community partner, to Eva Lokaj and High Life LLC for their extraordinary generosity, and to every Y member and staff member who contributed school supplies or backpacks.Together, you helped local children walk into a new school year feeling supported, prepared and valued.
