Dryer Fire Cooled Off At Middletown Laundromat

MIDDLETOWN, CT — Firefighters quickly extinguished a fire that started in a dryer at a laundromat on Washington Street in Middletown Wednesday afternoon.

Units were dispatched around 3:30 p.m. for a report of something burning at the business, fire officials said. Car 3 arrived to find smoke coming from the roof and soon confirmed a working fire involving one of the dryers, fire officials said.

Firefighters stretched one hose line and quickly extinguished the fire. The blaze also spread into some ductwork, according to the fire department.

The Middletown Fire Marshal's Office is investigating the cause of the fire.
