MIDDLETOWN, CT — The 16th annual Connecticut Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Run will take place Oct. 25 at the Wadsworth Mansion at Long Hill, bringing law enforcement officers, families and members of the public together to honor 158 Connecticut police officers who died in the line of duty.
The event features a chip-timed, USA Track & Field-certified 5K road race that begins and ends at the historic mansion at 421 Wadsworth St. The race is scheduled to start at 10 a.m., following opening ceremonies at approximately 9:45 a.m. The event will be held rain or shine.
The ceremonies will include remarks from guest speaker Ben Murphy, deputy chief of the East Windsor Police Department; the national anthem performed by retired Waterbury police Detective Andrea Deyo; and a presentation of the colors by the Connecticut State Police Honor Guard.
"Every one of the 158 fallen Connecticut officers we honor represents a family, an agency and a community that has felt the cost of service," said Brian Barao, race director and a sergeant with the Glastonbury Police Department.
Barao said the event provides an opportunity to remember the officers and ensure their stories and sacrifices are not forgotten.
The race is open to law enforcement officers and the general public. Law enforcement participants are eligible for officer, agency team and K-9 awards.
Online registration is available at ctleomr.org. Participants who register before Oct. 15 are guaranteed a 2026 technical race shirt. Late preregistration will remain open until 11:59 p.m. Oct. 24, and race-day registration will also be available.
An after-party will follow the race at Concentric Brewing Company, 91 Main St. in Portland. The gathering will feature food, beverages, music and raffle prizes. Attendance is open to people who do not participate in the race.
The event is presented by Gemma Power Systems and organized to support remembrance of Connecticut's fallen law enforcement officers and their families.
