MIDDLETOWN, CT — NoRA Cupcake Co. will close its Main Street storefront on Halloween, ending nearly 15 years in business, according to an announcement from the bakery's ownership.
The store will remain open through Saturday, Oct. 31, giving customers an opportunity to stop in and say goodbye, share memories and visit with staff, according to the announcement.
Ownership said the decision followed an exciting journey building the business, which focused on bringing sweets and a distinctive personality to customers' celebrations, milestones and everyday lives.
From the beginning, the goal was to build the brand from the ground up, working with friends and family, seeking guidance from former colleagues and becoming part of the community surrounding the Main Street storefront, ownership said.
Ownership thanked the employees, referred to as "CaKE Dealers," for their creativity, skills and dedication to the business over the years. The announcement also expressed gratitude to customers for supporting the bakery and incorporating it into their personal histories.
The experience brought both challenges and successes, the announcement said, adding that the business provided opportunities for creative expression and that ownership was ready for the next chapter.
Although the storefront will close Oct. 31, the business will honor previously placed special orders and wedding orders through Dec. 31, according to the announcement.
