The issue of gay rights is a hot topic on the pop charts. Be it well-intentioned or well-calculated, artists from Justin Bieber to Katy Perry have embraced the rhetoric of moderate gay activism. Hosted by musicologist and Wesleyan University alumnus Phil Gentry ’02, this talk explores the promises and pitfalls of when pop meets politics.
