8,400 CT Residents Without Power: Town-By-Town Update

There are flood warnings and wind advisories in effect as CT is still feeling the impacts from a powerful nor'easter.

CONNECTICUT — Over 8,000 Connecticut residents are without power Wednesday afternoon.(See a town-by-town update on power outages further down in the story).

A wind advisory remains in effect until 2 p.m. for most of southern Connecticut. Winds will be between 20-30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph at times.

A flood warning is now in effect until early Thursday morning for the Still River At Brookfield. Minor flooding is occurring and more is forecast, the weather service said.

"The river is expected to rise to a crest of 13.0 feet just after midnight tonight. It will then fall below flood stage early tomorrow afternoon. * Impact...At 14.0 feet, The river begins to flood roads and parking lots."

Several areas of the state, especially in southern Connecticut, received in excess of four inches of rain. (See rain totals below). The good news is that the rain ends early today, and then the story turns to the strong wind gusts. It will be windy all day and tonight.

Everything gets back to normal on Thursday, with sunshine and temperatures near 60 degrees. More rain is expected Friday night and Saturday, but Halloween now looks sunny and dry with temperatures into the mid 60s.

Eversource is reporting 8,273 at 2 p.m. Wednesday.

United Illuminating is reporting 207 customers still in the dark as of 2:00 p.m.

EAST HAVEN - I-95 Northbound is congested between Exits 50 and 53 (1.7 miles) because of Road Work between Exits 51 and 53 . Road Work in effect until Thursday, October 28 at 8:00 am. The right lane is closed. Reported Tuesday, October 26 at 3:48 pm.
