MILFORD, CT — The Milford Planning and Zoning has approved a major redevelopment of the former KMart property at 589 Bridgeport Ave., according to documents filed by the city.

The approval paves the way for construction of a residential complex at the site. The developer needed approval for a special permit with site plan review and resubdivision.

The approval allows for 192 units to be constructed in six buildings, with an accompanying clubhouse/pool facility and trash/maintenance building. The retail plaza will remain.
