2 Men Assault Milford Police Officers, Choke 2 Police Dogs: Police

Milford police say they incident occurred in the area of the Howard Johnson's Hotel.

MILFORD, CT - Two men are accused of assaulting Milford police officers and choking two police K-9s during an altercation on Thursday, police said in a news release.

On Thursday, Detectives from the Milford Police Department’s Narcotics and Vice Unit were on anti-crime patrol in the area of the Howard Johnson's Hotel where they encountered two suspicious males in a vehicle, Karim Harrison, 40, of 183 Scranton Street, New Haven and Harrison Rowbotham, 20, of 90 Grist Mill Circle, Guilford, police said in a report.

During the investigation both males allegedly became combative with officers and had to be subdued with the assistance of two police K-9’s, as well as, an electronic control device, police said.

During the altercation, the males allegedly struck the officers and choked the K-9’s, police said. The males were found to be in possession of crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said.

Neither the police officers nor the K-9’s were seriously injured in the incident, police said. Both Harrison and Rowbotham were treated for their injuries by hospital staff.

Harrison and Rowbotham are charged with the following:

Possession of Narcotics
Conspiracy Possession of Narcotics
Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell Conspiracy Possession of Narcotics with Intent to Sell Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Interfering with Police
Assault on a Police Officer (2 counts)
Cruelty to Animals

Both individuals were held on $10,000 bond and were arraigned in Milford Court on Friday.
