2 Men Damaged or Tried to Steal $12K Worth of Vehicle Parts at Courtney Honda: Police

Milford police said they found cinderblocks and hammers at the car dealership.

MILFORD, CT — Milford police officers were able to apprehend two men who are accused of taking tires and rims off of cars in the Courtney Honda parking lot last week, police said.

At 4 a.m. on Oct. 19 Milford Police Officers were dispatched to Courtney Honda, 767 Bridgeport Avenue, on the report of suspicious males walking around the lot, police said in a news release.

While en-route to the scene, officers were notified that video surveillance being viewed by a staff member, who was off site, showed two men taking tires and rims off of cars in the lot, police said. As officers were en-route they were notified that the males had just left in a white SUV, police said.

While responding, officers located a white SUV in the area of Bridgeport Avenue and School House Road and performed a motor vehicle stop, police said.

Inside the vehicle were two men, Franky Cortez, 45, of Newburg, New York and Steven Green, 40, of Bronx New York, police said.

Cortez admitted to attempting to steal tires and rims from the dealership, utilizing Green as a lookout, police said. Inside the truck were cinderblocks, cutting tools, a vehicle jack and tire iron, police said. Also found left behind at the dealership were more cinderblocks and a hammer located at an area of fence that had been cut by the men, police said. Several vehicles at the dealership had the windows smashed and lug nuts removed, police said.

Cortez and Green attempted to take or damaged over $12,600 worth of vehicle parts, police said.

Larceny 2nd

Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 2nd

Criminal Mischief 2nd (4 counts)

Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief 2nd (4 counts)

Green is charged with the following:

Conspiracy to Commit Larceny 2nd
Conspiracy to Commit Criminal Mischief 2nd

Cortez was released on $100,000 non-surety bond to appear in Milford Court on November 15, 2016. Green was held on $100,000 bond and appeared in Milford Court on October 19, 2016.
