23 Students Removed From Milford Schools Over Residency Issues

City officials say the district saved big by identifying students who should not be attending Milford schools.

MILFORD, CT — A total of 23 students received an education in the Milford Public Schools last year and were removed because they were not local residents, the Milford Mirror reports. The school system investigated 118 cases last year and determined 23 students were not authorized to attend city schools.

Taxpayers saved about $88,000 last year, officials told the Milford Mirror, and possible future savings could total another $60,000 to $80,000. The district paid $25,000 to a part-time residency and truancy coordinator.
