3 Hospitalized After Crash Down Embankment In Milford: Fire Officials

One person needed to be extricated from the vehicle and was seriously injured, according to fire officials.

MILFORD, CT — Three people were hospitalized after a vehicle went down an embankment near I-95 in Milford on Sunday night, according to fire officials.

One person needed to be extricated by firefighters, and was listed in serious condition, according to Battalion Chief and Public Information Officer Adam Hansen.

Hansen said crews responded around 10:30 p.m. to a reported vehicle extrication in the area of the 39B Exit / Entrance on I-95 North

Arriving crews found a sedan-style vehicle had gone down the embankment of the entrance to 39B and “deep into the woods,” according to Hansen.

Hansen said crews worked to cut down trees / brush to clear a path and gain access to the vehicle. Two occupants were able to self-extricate from the vehicle, while one person was still trapped inside, according to Hansen.

“Crews worked to extricate the occupant while at the same time providing Advanced Life Support from inside of the vehicle,” Hansen wrote in an email. “The occupant was extricated, placed in a stokes basket, removed from the wooded area, and transported to a local trauma facility in serious condition.”

The other two occupants were also taken to area hospitals, Hansen said.
