Active Gas Main Break Reported In Milford: Fire Department [UPDATE]
A gas leak that evacuated nearby businesses and closed down roads is now under control, fire officials said.

Woodmont Road has been reopened but the bottom section of Research Drive will remain closed for the road construction crews.
Previously evacuated businesses are now reopened, fire officials said shortly after 2 p.m. Monday.

MILFORD, CT — A gas main break was reported in Milford at Woodmont Road and Research Drive on Monday morning, fire officials said.

The incident was reported at about 11 a.m.
WTNH News-8 reported that police closed the following roads due to the incident: Quarry Road and Woodmont Road, Quarry Road and Research Drive and Old Gate Lane near the Pilot Travel Center.
The Milford Fire Department posted the following on Facebook:
Fire crews are on scene with an active high gas main break in the area of Woodmont and Research.
Residents are urged to avoid the area until the situation is placed under control.
Nearby businesses have been evacuated with no levels of gas inside the structures at this time.
GAS LEAK reported in the area of Woodmont Rd and Reasearch Dr. in Milford. Expected road closures and detours for approximately 1 hour. Avoid the area if possible!
