In celebration of Milford’s 375th Anniversary a certain number of Milford fire hydrants are being made available to be decoratively painted. Interested artists may contact Suzanne Cahill at Milford Living for more information and to be assigned a hydrant in town. (203) 283-5290 or Suzanne@milfordliving.com.
Adopt a Hydrant Program Details:
1. Hydrants will be assigned on a first come, first served basis. Exercise personal safety when working close to roadway. If you feel hydrant(s) assigned are located in area you feel is too dangerous to paint safely, please request a different hydrant(s).

2. The 375th Committee will provide the paint. You must only use the paint provided. After your hydrant(s) have been assigned, you can pick up your paint kit (with brushes and cleaner) at: Colony Paint, 282 Boston Post Road, (203) 874-8014.
3. Brush any loose paint off the hydrant before starting; hydrant should be clean and dry.

4. Brush a light coat of paint over hydrant barrel and caps; please avoid excess paint that can accumulate on hydrant threads.
5. Hydrant design should be appropriate for a public space. No hydrants may be painted more than 20% black or 100% green.
6. No gluing or attaching items to hydrants.
7. Public and private space surrounding the fire hydrant should be kept clean when working on the fire hydrant. Please respect the property while working.
8. Painting of the fire hydrants can begin anytime between May 1- and May 31, 2014. All design work should be complete by May 31, 2014, but some special exceptions may apply.
9. Only designated fire hydrants within the original stockade are considered a part of the Adopt a Hydrant program. You may request a specific hydrant within the mapped area, but the hydrant you paint will be the one assigned to you. You may only paint the fire hydrant you are assigned.
10. If you don’t follow the rules your fire hydrant will be painted over.
11. Participants may not modify, add to, or interfere with the operation of the hydrants in any way. The hydrants are the property of the Regional Water Authority, and are our firefighting equipment for emergency use. Respect the hydrant, safety first!
12. Within 24 hours of completion, take a picture of your self or group with your completed work and submit to: info@milfordct375.org
13. Have fun!
