MILFORD, CT — A home was damaged in a fire reported early Tuesday morning in Milford, according to fire officials.
Firefighters responded to a home on Beach Avenue at 4 a.m. and found smoke coming from the building. There was heavy fire on the home's second floor.
Crews had to deal with "challenges due to additions and renovations" in extinguishing the blaze.
The single person in the home was alerted in his sleep by working smoke detectors and exited the building unharmed. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
The home will be uninhabitable for a time due to the damage, WFSB 3-TV reported.
