William Anthony Rahgo Jr., 90, of Milford, CT passed away peacefully at home on March 18, 2026. He was born in Bridgeport, CT to the late William A. and Cornelia Rahgo of Stratford, CT. William is survived by his sister, Lorraine Badrick (David), stepchildren Doreen Castignoli, John Plank Jr, and Louis Plank, plus numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife of 29 years, Catherine Plank Rahgo, and his brother, George P. Rahgo.
Bill graduated from Stratford High School and continued his education, receiving an associates degree in electronics from Norwalk State Technical Institute. He enlisted in the Army where, after further electronics training, he served in the Signal Corps in Taiwan, attaining the rank of SP5. Following an honorable discharge, he was an electronics engineer at Bell & Howell, Tie Communications, and other firms in CT, all the while continuing his education at Univ of Bridgeport, Fairfield Univ, Bell & Howell Correspondence School and CT School of Electronics. Bill retired after a fulfilling career and worked part time as receptionist/cashier at David Ryan Hair Salon.
A theme throughout Bill’s life was his love of animals. He raised hamsters during his teens, then kept mice and rabbits as pets for a time, thereafter. He contributed to wildlife and animal care organizations throughout his life. He loved dogs, in recent years preferring Shelties - always rescues.
Bill always enjoyed family gatherings, and would discuss a wide range of topics, from sports to cars to politics. While he had an acerbic wit, his smile always told you he was kidding with you. He also built impressive stamp and coin collections.
Bill was a stage 4 colon cancer survivor, living nearly 20 years after his diagnosis. Over these last few years, he kept his sense of humor, often bantering with his doctors, nurses and aides, who would remark about his positive attitude and how he made them laugh.
A Remembrance of Bill’s life will be held on Saturday, June 6th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad St, Milford, CT.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Bill’s name to O.S.C.A.R. (One Step Closer Animal Rescue), located at 155 Stanhope Rd, Andover NJ, 07821 (or at oscaranimalrescue.org), or to your charity of choice.
