Large Affordable Housing Proposal Under Consideration In Milford

The Planning and Zoning Board will review the project at its next meeting.

MILFORD, CT — A developer is pitching a 53-unit multi-family housing development in Milford.

The proposal is on the agenda for the Planning & Zoning Board meeting scheduled for Tuesday, June 2, at 7 p.m. at City Hall.

Plans call for the residential development, which is being filed under the state's 8-30g affordable housing law, to be a single building constructed at 34 Buick Ave.

However, documents filed with the city show that the project may hit a roadblock.

A review by city staff states the following: "The application as submitted portrays the 2 lots as existing, which in fact, they do not exist," the comments read. "As such, the application is defective."

The review also indicates that two barns at the site need to be demolished.

The application also is "incomplete in that no affordability and marketing plan has been submitted," and therefore it cannot be considered under the affordable housing law.

The developer has been notified about steps that they will need to take to resubmit new plans.

More information on the project is available by clicking here.
