It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jon Paul Stevens on May 24, 2026. Jon was born on September 4, 1970, at Milford Hospital. He graduated from Platt Technical High School and went on to pursue a career in health services. Jon worked as an EMT and later as an ambulance dispatcher at Middlesex Hospital in Middletown, CT. Jon will be remembered for his kind heart, generosity, and wanderlust spirit. He was the kind of person people could count on. As “Shotgun Jon” he delighted and terrified crowds for more than 25 years as a volunteer at the Trail of Terror, an organization that has raised over $2 million for local charities, individuals, and community projects in need. An accomplished photographer, Jon had a special talent for capturing the beauty and architecture of abandoned buildings he loved exploring with friends. Jon leaves behind the love of his life, Jena Vignola; his parents, John and Sue Stevens, and Nancee and Ron Taylor; his sister, Jessica Riley (Bret); his stepbrothers, Ron Taylor and Michael Taylor; his Aunt Deborah O’Brien (Gregory Donahue); his uncles, John McLean (Mary) and Keith McLean (Maggie); his cousins, Sean O’Brien (Beth) and Heather Peckham (Edwin); along with many nieces, nephews, and countless friends who were fortunate to know and love him. Jon was predeceased by his sister, Rene Stevens. A celebration of Jon’s life will be held at First United Church of Christ Congregational, 34 West Main Street, Milford, CT on Saturday June 13th at 10:30 am. A scholarship fund has been established in Jon’s memory. Donations may be sent to John and Sue Stevens, 470 Woodland Drive, Milford, CT 06460. In the memo line please write Trail of Terror.
