Milford Fire Chief Announces Retirement

The chief has served the fire department and the city for 32 years.

MILFORD, CT — Fire Chief Anthony Fabrizi was honored during a farewell retirement gathering in Milford.

Fabrizi was hired by the city in 1993 and became a lieutenant in 2007.

He rose through the ranks of the department, being promoted to captain, battalion chief and assistant chief, before ultimately serving as chief in 2023.

The city posted on Facebook regarding the change in leadership, congratulating Fabrizi on his retirement.

Mayor Richard Smith "expressed sincere gratitude" to Fabrizi, who devoted 32 years of service to the fire department and the city.

"His leadership, professionalism, and commitment to public safety have greatly benefited the residents, businesses, and visitors of Milford," the post reads.

"Thank you Chief Fabrizi for your hard work and contributions over the years. The City of Milford is grateful for your years of service and your lasting contributions to the Milford community. We wish you health and happiness in this new chapter."

Fabrizi issued the following statement on his retirement:

"It has been an honor and privilege to serve as Chief of the Department alongside some of the most dedicated men and women in the fire service. I will always carry with me the pride of having been part of a profession built upon service, sacrifice, and the enduring commitment to helping others when they need it most. The memories, friendships and shared commitment to protecting others will remain among the greatest blessings of my life."
