Carmela Ann "Carm" Arminio, affectionately known to many as Auna, 74, of West Haven, Connecticut, passed away peacefully at home on July 4, 2026, surrounded by her loving family and dear friends after a courageous battle with lung cancer.

Born on June 14, 1952, in New Haven, Connecticut, Carm was the daughter of the late Louis Arminio and Yolanda (D'Urso) Arminio. She was raised in the Fair Haven East neighborhood of New Haven, graduated from Wilbur Cross High School, and later earned an Associate's Degree in Business from South Central Community College.

Carm began her career with Wawa, where she worked for 20 years before joining Big Y, where she worked for nearly 30 years until her retirement. She met her beloved wife, Carol Bartimole, through a mutual circle of friends, and together they shared 35 wonderful years filled with love, loyalty, countless adventures, and cherished memories until Carol's passing in 2014.

Carm loved to travel, with Hawaii and Alaska among her favorite destinations. She especially enjoyed sailing her Hobie Cat, kayaking, camping, and whitewater rafting. A devoted fan of UConn Women's Basketball and the Connecticut Sun, she rarely missed an opportunity to cheer on her favorite teams. She also enjoyed building an impressive collection of sports cards and old coins. She had a special place in her heart for animals and adored her beloved bird, Kita, whose cheerful greetings welcomed her home each day, and her cherished cat, Marley.

Nothing brought Carm more joy than spending time with the people she loved. She cherished family gatherings, enjoyed celebrating life's milestones, and treasured the lifelong bonds she shared with family and dear friends. She especially looked forward to her daily afternoon coffee with Nancy and Mike Guman and the neighborhood "coffee clutch," where stories, laughter, and friendship were shared for many years. Carm was especially grateful for the lifelong friendship of Vickie Mortimer, whose love, loyalty, and steadfast companionship remained a constant throughout more than five decades of her life. She also treasured her enduring friendships of more than 50 years with Roxanne Pacquin, Cathy Zeif, and many other cherished friends and neighbors.

Carm was predeceased by her beloved wife, Carol Bartimole; her parents, Louis and Yolanda (D'Urso) Arminio; her brother, Frank Arminio; her stepdaughter, Tina Bartimole Dent; her beloved great-nephew, John Louis Arminio III; her nephew, Aaron Mitchell; and her stepson-in-law, Keith Laughner.

She is survived by her nephew, John Louis Arminio Jr. and his wife, Erika Torre Arminio; their family, including Ashley Arminio Kroupa and her husband, Brian Kroupa; Louis Michael Arminio; Alexandria Torre; Autumn Torre Grau and her husband, Elliot Grau; and their daughter, Millie Grau; her stepdaughter, Terri Bartimole Laughner; her step-granddaughter, Danielle Laughner; her late stepdaughter Tina's husband, Paul Dent, and daughters, Emma Dent and Rachel Dent; her niece, Jessica Mitchell Rowen, and her husband, Bill Rowen; their children, Joey Vece, Christina Vece, and Olivia Rowen; her sister-in-law, Dawn Mitchell; her brother, John Louis Arminio Sr. and his wife, Lynette Arminio; her nephews, Frank Arminio Jr., Michael Arminio, Joseph Arminio, and Christopher Arminio; and many beloved cousins, extended family members, dear friends, and neighbors.

The family extends its sincere gratitude to the care team at Smilow Cancer Hospital, Dagrie of Opal Stork Home Care, and the hospice nurses for the compassion, kindness, and care they provided.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, July 18, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at the Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford. A graveside service will follow at Kings Highway Cemetery, 271 Cherry Street, Milford.
