MILFORD, CT — Christopher Waiksnoris has been officially approved as the next fire chief in Milford.
The appointment was made at the Board of Aldermen's meeting Monday night. Waiksnoris then took the oath of office Tuesday morning.
Waiksnoris began his career with the Milford Fire Department as a firefighter in 1995. He was promoted to lieutenant in 2009 and continued to advance through the ranks, serving as assistant chief of Operations since 2021.
Waiksnoris has served the city in many roles, including paramedic for more than 27 years, hazardous materials technician and fire marshal, according to a post from the fire department.
He was also among the first members of Connecticut's Urban Search and Rescue Team, specializing in rope rescue, structural collapse and technical rescue operations.
The previous chief, Anthony Fabrizi, announced his retirement last month after 32 years with the department.
