Lois Helupka, 89, of Milford, beloved wife of the late Joseph Helupka, Sr., passed away on September 11, 2026. Lois was born on October 21, 1936 in Greenwich, CT.
Lois was a devoted mother, a dedicated worker, and a loving friend who touched the lives of so many people.
She was a hardworking woman who spent 36 years serving the Greenwich community as a school bus driver, a career she took great pride in. Throughout those 36 years, Lois was more than just a school bus driver to the children she transported. She was a caring presence in their lives. Her warmth, patience, and kindness toward the children were a true part of her excellence at her job.
Above all else, Lois was a loving and devoted mother to her five children. She worked hard to provide for her family and treasured the time they spent together. Her home was a place where people knew they were welcome. Lois had an open-door policy and never hesitated to make sure that anyone who came through her door was fed, cared for, and made to feel at home. Taking care of others was simply who she was.
Lois also knew how to enjoy the simple pleasures in life. She loved playing bingo with the bingo ladies in Port Chester, sharing laughs and good times with friends. She had a particular love for chili hot dogs, a favorite that brought her enjoyment. And just as deeply as she loved people, Lois loved animals. Her compassion extended to every living thing, and her gentle heart made her a special person to both people and animals alike.
Lois will be remembered for her incredible work ethic, her generous heart, her open door, and the unconditional love she gave to her family and everyone who knew her. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, love, and devotion that will continue through her beloved family.
Lois is survived by her children, Joseph Jr. (Karen) Helupka, William (Rose) Helupka, Nancy (Terry) Murphy, Robert Helupka, and Michael Helupka; her grandchildren, Melissa, Allison (Michael), Matthew, Mark (Angela), Gabriel, James (Alexis), and Mary (Bernard); her great grandchildren, Rock Jr., Dylan, Alexis, Annabella, Matthew Jr., Joseph, Adalynn, Christopher, Lillian, and Scarlett; her great great grandchild, Joshua; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Bonnie and Henry Jensen and their family; her brother-in-law, Stephen Helupka and his family; as well as many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The services will be private at the convenience of the family.
