Joseph W. Hite, age 75, of Milford, beloved husband of Janet Hite, passed away on September 16th, 2026. Born on September 7th, 1951, in Bridgeport, CT, he was the son of the late Evelyn and George Byrnes, and Robert W. Hite.

Joseph had a lifelong appreciation for the simple pleasure of being behind the wheel and a spirit of adventure that remained with him throughout his life. In his younger years, he enjoyed racing motorcycles, and later found great pleasure driving his beloved Corvette, often taking leisurely rides simply for the joy of being on the road. He also cherished time spent by the beach, where he and his wife, Janet, enjoyed many meals together and treasured the simple pleasures of being together.

Known for being fun-loving and always ready with a joke, Joseph had a special ability to bring humor and lightness wherever he went. He was funny, kind-hearted, and incredibly generous; often described as someone who would drop everything to help whenever he was asked. He never complained, even in difficult moments, and his positive spirit was admired by all.

Joseph worked late into his life to provide for and care for his family, demonstrating every day what dedication and selflessness truly looked like. He also loved technology and tinkered around with a variety of gadgets. From cameras to computers, he was always teaching himself how they worked and all he could do with them.

Everyone loved Joseph, including the doctors and nurses who cared for him. Above all, he was the best father and a man whose love, hard-work, humor, and generosity will remain forever in the hearts of his family and friends.

Joseph is survived by his wife of 51 years, Janet Hite, his children Kelly Lugo (William) and Daniel Hite, and grandchildren William Lugo III and Elise Lugo. He is also survived by his sister Linda Hurley and Janet's siblings Chris Rosenberry (Lisa), Sandra Rosenberry, and Charles

Rosenberry as well as many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his siblings Marge Clauson, Bobbie Masterson, Butch Hite, and Janet Hite.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, September 28, at St. Mary's Church, 70 Gulf Street, Milford, CT 06460. Family and friends are warmly invited to attend. A luncheon will follow the Mass.
