MILFORD, CT — A man is facing accusations that he fired a gun at another vehicle on I-95 in a road rage incident, according to police.

State troopers met the person registering the complaint in Milford and found that their vehicle had damage on the passenger side rear quarter panel.

The person told troopers that they had been driving with passengers in the vehicle when they noticed a dark gray vehicle driving erratically behind them. Police said they later identified that driver as Richard McFarren, 57, of Shelton.

McFarren's vehicle then moved into the right lane, and he made "an obscene hand gesture," according to police.

McFarren continued to travel erratically before pulling out what appeared to be a gun, according to police.

The other driver then accelerated and moved away from McFarren's vehicle. While they were doing so, they heard a noise that sounded like a gun being fired.

McFarren's vehicle then left the highway at exit 39B. The other driver left the highway at exit 39A in Milford and contacted state police.

Police investigated, finding that the dark gray vehicle belonged to a business in Shelton and later identifying McFarren.

Police met with McFarren, who initially denied any involvement. Police said McFarren later said he had been involved in a road rage incident where the people in another vehicle had made obscene hand gestures toward him.
