Ruth E. Crofoot, 100, of Old Saybrook, CT, wife of the late Warren Crofoot, passed away on August 23, 2026. Born on July 10, 1926 in Bridgeport, CT, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Ella (Bodnar) Gaspar.
Ruth was truly a creative soul, and her love of art remained with her throughout her life. She continued to sketch until recently, always finding joy in bringing her ideas to life on paper. For many years, she worked as a commercial artist at Associated Merchandising Corp. in NYC. She drew beautiful women's dresses and accessories that were featured in several newspapers. She also served as the art director for Howland's Department Store sharing her vision and talent with those around her. As a ceramics teacher, Ruth delighted in creating thoughtful pieces filled with intricate, detailed features. Her creativity was more than a career or a hobby - it was a meaningful part of who she was. Through her drawings, designs, teaching, and artwork, Ruth shared her imagination and beauty with others, leaving a lasting impression on all who had the privilege of experiencing her talent.
Ruth is survived by her two daughters, Lee Whitaker, and Sue (Paul) Liberty, her five grandchildren, Chris (Anne) Heller, Jonathan (Kelly) Whitaker, Rachel (Vish) Whitaker, Jamie Liberty, and Joe (Katherine) Liberty. She is also survived by her great grandchildren Jordan and Jonathan Heller, Vira Mazumder, as well as her cousins Richard and Peter Gerstl.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, October 17th, 2026 at 1:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Cody-White Funeral Home, 107 Broad Street, Milford.
