Goodwill Announce the Grand Opening of the new Goodwill Super Store and Donation Center in Milford

Goodwill Industries of Western Connecticut will celebrate the Grand Opening of the new Goodwill Super Store and Donation Center at 1712 Boston Post Road with a ribbon cutting ceremony and Grand Opening celebration beginning 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 27, 2011. Following the ribbon cutting, the fun-filled event will feature give-a-ways, refreshments and plenty of bargains. Star 99.9 radio will conduct a live remote on from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

Goodwill officials say the move will help them expand services in the local community. This new 10,400 square foot store will include a drive-through donation center and will carry a wide variety of value-priced items to generate revenue to support our mission of helping people attain self-sufficiency. In addition, this store will house a career center to serve local individuals in need of employment services.

Goodwill has operated a store in Milford since 1961, opening when a building on New Haven Avenue was donated to the agency. Goodwill sold that building to the city of Milford in early 2000 and then moved to 321 Boston Post Road.

Goodwill stores carry a wide variety of clothing, furniture, linens, accessories, housewares, small appliances, collectibles, books, sports equipment and other miscellaneous items donated by a generous community. Some low-cost new items are also available. Donations are tax deductible. Proceeds support Goodwill programs.

Goodwill Industries of Western Connecticut is a non-profit organization that provides employment and support services to the community. Through programs that offer people the opportunity to develop the skills they need to obtain and keep a job, Goodwill helps the individuals it serves gain hope, dignity and financial independence.
