Barbara Wahl, 79, of Milford, passed away on July 31, 2024.

Barbara's life was a tapestry woven with acts of generosity, a deep commitment to education, and a passion for the arts.

Barbara Wahl, 79, of Milford, beloved wife of Theodore Wahl for 31 years, passed away on July 31, 2024. Born on February 10, 1945 in New Haven, CT, she was the daughter of Natalie (Johnson) Lang and the late Philip Francis Lang.

Barbara was a beacon of compassion and dedication, who left behind a legacy of unwavering service and boundless kindness. Barbara's life was a tapestry woven with acts of generosity, a deep commitment to education, and a passion for the arts.

A talented dancer proficient in Ballet, Pointe, and Tap, Barbara used her skills to finance her college education. Her love for dance never waned, and she continued to share this passion with others, inspiring young dancers with her grace and dedication.

Barbara dedicated over 37 years to the Milford Board of Education, teaching English at Milford High School and later at Foran High School. Her influence extended far beyond the classroom; she shaped the minds and hearts of countless students, nurturing their potential with patience and wisdom.

As a volunteer at the Milford Rape Crisis Center and the Milford Literacy Center (now known as Literacy Volunteers of Southern Connecticut), she provided invaluable support to those in need, embodying empathy and strength in every interaction.

Her selflessness extended into her personal life. Barbara opened her heart and home to many local youths in need of support, offering a safe haven and a guiding hand. Her mentorship and caregiving were a testament to her generous spirit and deep compassion. She will be deeply missed by her students, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.

In addition to her loving husband, Ted, Barbara is survived by her children, Shawn (Richard Lambert, Jr.) Merk, Michael (Ann Marie) Bautz, Cheralyn (Mike) Gargano, Michael (Lindsay Cummings) Wahl, and Nickelle (T.J.) Partyka; her grandchildren, Andrew and Amelia Bautz, Elizabeth Gargano, Emery Wahl, and Farrah, Maya, and Thomas Partyka; her sister, Patricia Richardson Lang; her uncle, Robert (Pat) Johnson; several Godsons; and her *husband’s* dog, Emma. Barbara was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Paul Richardson. Special recognition to Shawn O’Brien and Harry Demos and numerous former students who became dear members of the family.

A Memorial Service will be celebrated on Sunday, August 18, 2024 at 1:00 pm at First United Congregational Church of Christ 34 W. Main St., Milford, CT (MEET DIRECTLY AT CHURCH). Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to BreakthroughT1D.org, formerly known as Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
